Critique
If you’re not ready to jump into developmental editing, I will provide an editorial letter outlining high-level observations about strengths and weaknesses in plot, structure, character development, and more.
A critique can be done for a completed draft or for a work in progress if you need help shaping the direction of your story.
Developmental Editing
This is big-picture editing. I’ll give you detailed feedback about strengths and weaknesses in plot, structure, character development, and more. You will also receive an annotated copy of your manuscript with comments, questions, and recommendations. It’s not just the “what,” but the “why”—and how to fix it.
Stylistic Editing
Once you have your plot where you want it, I’ll work with you to refine your language for tone, flow, audience, and clarity. I’ll make comments and suggest sentence-level edits to ensure your creativity shines through and your writing is artful and effective. Stylistic editing is about polishing your prose while preserving your unique voice.
COPY EDITING
Copy editing is what most people think of when they imagine editing. Once your story and style are settled, I’ll dig into the spelling, grammar, mechanics, and other little details to ensure your text is clear, correct, and consistent.
